Carmarthenshire Youth Council is thrilled to announce the launch of the “Our Voice, Our Vote, Our Future” Ballot, empowering all young people aged 11-18 that live in Carmarthenshire to have a say on the most pressing issues impacting their lives.

How did it all start?

During the Autumn term, we reached out to secondary schools, asking them to share the two most important topics/issues for their students. Then, in November, we held a consultation event where the two representatives from each school presented their motions. Everyone presents took a vote, shortlisting the 10 top topics, forming our recently unveiled ballot paper!

Out of the 10 shortlisted topics carefully chosen by young people themselves, Carmarthenshire’s young people get to cast their vote on the one issue that matters most to their lives. Their vote will shape the conversation around issues that directly impact their lives and matter to them the most.

What next…

The results of the ballot will be announced during the Carmarthenshire Youth Council Annual General Meeting held in April 2024. The top issue will give young people an opportunity to work on projects and campaigns to make sure that their vote counts and makes a difference across Carmarthenshire.

Have your say!!!
